We’re close to roll-out on our patient facing app so we’re planning some user testing sessions over the coming weeks.
If you’d be interested in joining our user testing group to help test our app, we’d love to welcome you to Substrakt Health HQ for only 30 minutes of your precious time.
What is a user testing session?
User testing is an incredibly important exercise that we use throughout out project development. It allows us to test the app we’re working on in detail by gaining valuable feedback from the public. Because of the nature of web development, we live in a little bubble, beavering away to get the app to work. What we regularly need, is someone to view the app with a fresh pair of eyes and point out the things that we might have missed. This leads to a better development process, a better app, and happier users. Hoorah!
What’s involved in a user testing session?
It’s important to stress that it’s the app that we are testing, not the users. Sessions will generally last 30 minutes and consist of us asking you to perform several tasks (normally on one of our laptops). This is accompanied by plenty of tea and biscuits. We then talk to you to find out how you found completing these tasks:
- Did you have any problems?
- What was the most frustrating aspect?
- Could anything have been made easier?
- Were elements where you expected them to be?
- How can we improve the experience?
What about my details?
Right now, all we need is your email address. A name helps as well. If you choose to register your interest, we’d then like to know a few more details to help us gear the session towards you (age range, gender etc).
During the session we also record the computer screen (not webcam) so that we can make notes and use as a reference in the future. This is of course based on your consent and we won’t record your session if you’re uneasy about it.
Sounds great, where do I sign up?
Right!? All we need is your email address and name (optional) using the form below, and we’ll do the rest. We’ll then email you with another form asking for your availability on a list of chosen dates. Don’t worry if you can’t make them, we’ll be running more sessions in the future.
If you have any questions at all, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
