With the expansion of year’s annual flu vaccination programme, and the need to vaccine larger numbers of patients whilst minimising time and contact with patients, we’ve worked directly with one of our CCG clients to produce a new app which automates the patient administration for vaccinations – reducing the time taken to add the information to patient records to under 30 seconds.
The app sends each patient a web link via SMS in advance of their appointment. On arrival, they click on the link to generate a barcode which is scanned by the clinician on a tablet or smartphone device. The patient information is automatically retrieved so all the clinician needs to do is select the correct batch number and vaccine location from a drop-down menu. The information is then automatically saved to each patient’s record.
Ash Vora, Managing Director at Substrakt Health comments “The app was designed to support a centralised approach to delivering large numbers of flu vaccines for this year’s programme, from locations set up specifically to administer them.
“It can also drive efficiencies for practices carrying out all types of vaccinations as normal within their own surgeries, and provides an ideal solution for delivering the upcoming COVID-19 immunisation quickly to large numbers of the population.”
Birmingham-based GP Federation SDSmyhealthcare is using the app this year to support their flu programme to those eligible within their population of 500,000 patients.
Naresh Chauhan, Medical Director at SDSmyhealthcare commented “With a patient list size covering around a third of the population of Birmingham, we needed a solution to enable us to carry out larger numbers of vaccinations whilst limiting the time and contact our practice staff need to have with patients.
“Substrakt Health’s solution integrates with our practice clinical systems and allows us to complete the administration part of each vaccination, recording vaccinations on patient records in just a few clicks, making the whole process quick and efficient for our patients and practices.”
